Bouncing Bald Head

Yep spending nearly a day with a Buddhist (yes still fun to type) nun was a beyond words.  I'm sure I'll be processing for weeks and months.  She is my new heroine. She followed her calling that she knew at the age of 17. She trusts her instincts completely. She has a presence like no other woman I've been around. Peace and life force beams from her. She's a fighter. She stands firm. She believes in what her heart tells her. She talks to Holy mountains. She observes and interprets nature so honorably. She is a teacher. She lives by example. She believes that Buddhism needs to more appropriately incorporate the divine feminine into the dharma. She is dedicated to this inclusion. She's also dedicated to community and having all voices heard, not just those with ordination or enlightenment status. (I guess there are 4 stages of enlightenment - this all new to me!) She talks to mountains -  The Blue Ridge She's an eloquent story teller, many involving nat

Nuns and Holy People

I have to write about my feelings on this subject before I host my first Holy guest in my new/old home.  Tomorrow night I'm having a Buddhist nun stay with me and then I'm driving her back up to a meditation center about an hour away the following day. When the email came out that asked for housing for this visiting lecturer at our local meditation center, I thought - well I don't have any kids home so I could do that.  I had no idea who this was, but it sounded cool!  Only yesterday did I search on her name on Google and found out how incredible this guest is that's staying with me!  How blessed am I??? One of her fields of interest is The Divine Feminine which is amazingly in synch with things I've been drawn to recently.  This Holy woman is going to be in my house with just me and I get to share in her presence!  There ARE people that just beam love!  I could see this in her from watching her videos on her web site.... once again, How blessed am I???? Catch a Wave Dude

Reflecting on my day today, I have to admit... every day is PACKED with opportunity- opportunities to make positive waves and RECEIVE positive waves!  My first stop of the day on my way into work was to drop off a book for a friend about traveling the world on a budget.  He's a small business owner with two young girls, but his DREAM is to take a few months off and travel the world.  I thought I'd get him started... at least getting ideas and possibly believing in the possibility. Next I walked in with the blind man with the black lab seeing eye dog.  I used to look at him from a distance and want to be nice to him, but I didn't know what to do.  Now I don't think, I just do!  I asked him about his dog and where he worked and we introduced ourselves.  Now we're friends and his dog McQueen is DARLING with those big BROWN eyes that make you just want to get really close for plenty of kisses! During the day of work a co-worker wrote to tell me that she LOVED the

Rolling in the May Day Dew - My FIRST Attempt

Image
I tried out a new Irish tradition (May Day = Beltane) that I had only heard about last year, but was too late to get into the 'game' so this year I did!  It's all about rolling in the May Day dew....  The plainest girl will be beautiful if she rises early on May Day and bathes her face in morning dew at sunrise. So goes the old Irish saying... If she was daring enough to undress and roll naked, she was given great beauty of person; the dew was also believed to bring immunity to freckles, sunburn, chapping, and wrinkles during the coming year. It cured or prevented headaches, skin ailments and sore eyes and, if applied to the eyes, it ensured that its user rose every morning clear-eyed, alert and refreshed, even after a very short sleep. The man who washed his hands in the dew of May Day gained skill in opening knots and locks, in mending nets and disentangling ropes. The woman who did like-wise could unravel tangled threads with ease.
