Called

“We have been called to heal wounds, to unite what has fallen apart, and to bring home those who have lost their way.”
― Francis of Assisi

St. Francis came up for me two times today.  My dentist was talking about her son and husband taking a pilgrimage to Assisi and then I saw an interview about a pilgrimage experience of a well loved spiritual woman to Assisi to follow in the footsteps of St. Francis.  I remembered the story about St. Francis and the wolf and how he loved animals and nature.  He's usually pictured or scuplted with some kind of animal - a bird, a wolf or a sheep.

We have been called to heal wounds says he.  He also says “No one is to be called an enemy, all are your benefactors, and no one does you harm. You have no enemy except yourselves.” ...  interesting,  Today I'm feeling a shift in a relationship.  I was brought into a person's life to provide some healing for a time, but I believe that time is coming to a close.... because his own enemy is what is blocking his healing and this is nothing I can heal.

But it is the quote pictured to the right that I most want to remember today.... "For it is in giving that we receive".  No act of love is lost.  It is an act of love to oneself to realize when one's own giving is best placed on fertile soil.

“True progress quietly and persistently moves along without notice.”
― Francis of Assisi
